Also, it was my blog's 2nd blogiversary earlier this month. And I forgot. What a terrible mum. I should do something to over-compensate for this. Perhaps a little giveaway? Maybe a little Liberty-shaped giveaway? Watch this space.
Speaking of Liberty, and because I have no photos in today's post, here's a quite interesting behind-the-scenes video at Liberty's Lancashire factory (try to ignore the slightly too loud dance beat soundtrack):
It reminds me slightly of those trips through the window on Play school, where you'd see behind the scenes at a milk-bottling plant or car manufacturing plant. I'm still really fascinated by things like that.
And if you're into this sort of thing, here's an interesting article on the Liberty archive (also know as the place I'd most like to spend a whole day browsing).

In other news, I have signed up to the stash busting sew along, hosted by Cation Designs and EmSewCrazy. I committed to using up at least 10 pieces of stash fabric in 2013. Should be fun: is anyone else joining in?
speak soon
x
(ps, Am I alone in finding it a little bit infuriating, and slightly crazy, that blogger's spellchecker doesn't recognise the word "blog", or even "blogger"?!)

I used to always hope that the play school window would lead to a film about a factory.
ReplyDeleteI forgot my random thing... I'm nearly 40 (God, it hurts to see that in black and white) but my proudest achievement was winning the city of London Maths Competition aged 14!
Deletethat's a great acheivement! And 40's great (she says, as it creeps ever closer)!
DeleteWhen I was four, I used to insist my name was Rosie. (Happy blogiversary!)
ReplyDeletehaha - It's a great name, so why not?!
DeleteI've also joined the Stashbusting Sewalong and have committed to 15 stashed fabrics - yikes! Happy blogiversary, and for the random fact, I speak Spanish, English and French (in that other of proficiency) and have never traveled somewhere where I don’t speak the local language.
ReplyDeleteit's brilliant that you can speak 3 languages - an amazing skill. I just about manage English ;)
DeleteHappy bloggerversary! I'm doing the stash busting sewalong too, my stash isn't massive so I'm committing to eight pieces.
ReplyDeleteRandom fact: I was hypnotised on stage by Paul McKenna when I was 18 - this was before he was famous and he was doing the whole student circuit! X
thanks Jane! how funny - I have a mistrust of hypnotists - I think you were jolly brave!
DeleteI also joined the stashbusting sewalong (committing myself to at least 25 pieces of fabric to use this year)...that's how I found your blog. I noticed yesterday I was the 100th person to join via Google. My random fact: when I'm not sewing, I can usually be found cooking, probably something with onions in it; onions just may be my favorite ingredient, right above lemons.
ReplyDeleteExcellent - I look forward to seeing how you get on. 25 pieces - wow!
DeleteHappy blogiversary!!! I think you need some form of delicious cake... ;)
ReplyDeleteoh yes... cake. Don't worry, I'm on it.
DeleteI have no idea where I found your blog as i follow loads but I am totally crap at leaving comments. ( I especially hate that word verification gadget and normally give up once I see that appear) i am also totally rubbish at keeping my own blog up to date. I tell people I have a blog but I am not a blogger lol!
ReplyDeletethanks for reading Tammy! I'm not that great at leaving comments either... especially when it get's complicated (with verification etc). but it's nice to know that you're reading anyway :)
DeleteRandom fact about me - I am taking my kids to see Rolf Harris in February!!! We are so excited!
ReplyDeletethat's pretty exciting stuff! Enjoy :)
DeleteYay two years! Random fact:I was visiting the UK late 2011 and hubby and I are lost / exploring the area when I see the Liberty building across the road, i take a pic and then for some reason i don't drag us in to look!! what was i thinking ??? so close yet so far.
ReplyDeleteoh no! it's a shame you missed it - it's so beautiful inside. perhaps one day I'll do a post just about the lovely interior, so that you can experience it anyway.
DeleteHappy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteMy claim to fame is that I've met Vidal Sassoon (actual master of the hair products fame) and Stefan Denis (Paul from Neighbours). Wow I live a showbiz life...
ooo I've met Stefan Denis too! We obviously move in the same showbiz circles ;)
DeleteHi Shiavani - congrats on 2 years of having your blog, it's definitely one of my favourites. Sorry I've been quite on the commenting side for ages, I lost the whole blogging mojo (blame it on wedding planning!).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my random fact is that I was born in Kuwait and grew up in Indonesia (living there until I was 15). Heading back to Indo for the first time in 15 years for my honeymoon and I cannot wait!!!
thanks Suzie! Well, I think you have a perfectly good reason for being distracted! I hope all the planning is going well!
DeleteHappy Blog-i-versary Shivani. That stash busting looks a good idea, I know that I for one definitely need to down size my fabric hoard lol!
ReplyDeletehaha - I know! That stash just keeps on growing, so I really need to take some action!
DeleteHi Shivani, Happy Blog Birthday ! I love your blog. I don't really have much of a stash of fabric to join a stash-busting sew-along. I'm starting to enjoy sewing after a long absence. It's great having the internet to help when I get stuck.
ReplyDeletethanks for reading :) the internet has been a real saver - I just can't imagine that I'd have even taken up sewing if not for the wealth of information, and the amazing online sewing community out there.
DeleteHappy anniversary - and thanks for continuing to share your sewing exploits. Very inspiring (I'm wearing a me-made Colette Ginger today after being inspired by your blog in fact). Indulging in a stash busting exercise would mean admitting that I had a stash which I'm still in denial about even though I can't now get any more fabric onto the shelves in my spare room. Well done on taking the first step! Shame the Liberty archives aren't open to the public - we could have organised a London crafty blogger get together and tour.
ReplyDeletethanks for your kind words! I tried to be in denial about my stash, but I'm not fooling anyone! I would seriously love a tour of the archive - I think I'd almost get too excited and want to look at *everything*! They'd never be rid of me!
DeleteI am a brand new follower for your blog (as of yesterday or two days ago?), but I am so inspired by all your creations! I now have cadence in my knitting queue and moved up another wiksten tova in my sewing queue!
ReplyDeleteAs for a random fact about me... I'm obsessed with brown butter rice krispie treats!
Happy blogiversary! And congrats on the followers! I'm joining in on the stash-busting challenge, too-- should be really fun! I definitely need to start working through my stash at a faster clip!
ReplyDeleteLet's see, a fact about me... I grew up in a house without a TV (my parents found it a waste of time), but now I work in television full-time. :)
happy bloanniversary darling
