Second blogiversary and stash-busting

Well this is exciting: 100 followers (via google friend connect thingy). hello everyone! And thank you for following and reading. I feel like you all know something about me, but I don't know anything about you. So I'd love it if you could leave a comment to let me know one random thing about you.

Also, it was my blog's 2nd blogiversary earlier this month. And I forgot. What a terrible mum. I should do something to over-compensate for this. Perhaps a little giveaway? Maybe a little Liberty-shaped giveaway? Watch this space.

Speaking of Liberty, and because I have no photos in today's post, here's a quite interesting behind-the-scenes video at Liberty's Lancashire factory (try to ignore the slightly too loud dance beat soundtrack):

It reminds me slightly of those trips through the window on Play school, where you'd see behind the scenes at a milk-bottling plant or car manufacturing plant. I'm still really fascinated by things like that.

And if you're into this sort of thing, here's an interesting article on the Liberty archive (also know as the place I'd most like to spend a whole day browsing).

~

In other news, I have signed up to the stash busting sew along, hosted by Cation Designs and EmSewCrazy. I committed to using up at least 10 pieces of stash fabric in 2013. Should be fun: is anyone else joining in?

speak soon
x

(ps, Am I alone in finding it a little bit infuriating, and slightly crazy, that blogger's spellchecker doesn't recognise the word "blog", or even "blogger"?!)

  1. I used to always hope that the play school window would lead to a film about a factory.

  4. Happy bloggerversary! I'm doing the stash busting sewalong too, my stash isn't massive so I'm committing to eight pieces.
Random fact: I was hypnotised on stage by Paul McKenna when I was 18 - this was before he was famous and he was doing the whole student circuit! X

  5. I also joined the stashbusting sewalong (committing myself to at least 25 pieces of fabric to use this year)...that's how I found your blog. I noticed yesterday I was the 100th person to join via Google. My random fact: when I'm not sewing, I can usually be found cooking, probably something with onions in it; onions just may be my favorite ingredient, right above lemons.

( I especially hate that word verification gadget and normally give up once I see that appear) i am also totally rubbish at keeping my own blog up to date. I tell people I have a blog but I am not a blogger lol!

  11. Hi Shiavani - congrats on 2 years of having your blog, it's definitely one of my favourites. Sorry I've been quite on the commenting side for ages, I lost the whole blogging mojo (blame it on wedding planning!).
Anyway, my random fact is that I was born in Kuwait and grew up in Indonesia (living there until I was 15). Heading back to Indo for the first time in 15 years for my honeymoon and I cannot wait!!!

  13. Hi Shivani, Happy Blog Birthday ! I love your blog. I don't really have much of a stash of fabric to join a stash-busting sew-along. I'm starting to enjoy sewing after a long absence. It's great having the internet to help when I get stuck.

    1. thanks for reading :) the internet has been a real saver - I just can't imagine that I'd have even taken up sewing if not for the wealth of information, and the amazing online sewing community out there.

  14. Happy anniversary - and thanks for continuing to share your sewing exploits. Very inspiring (I'm wearing a me-made Colette Ginger today after being inspired by your blog in fact). Indulging in a stash busting exercise would mean admitting that I had a stash which I'm still in denial about even though I can't now get any more fabric onto the shelves in my spare room. Well done on taking the first step! Shame the Liberty archives aren't open to the public - we could have organised a London crafty blogger get together and tour.

    1. thanks for your kind words! I tried to be in denial about my stash, but I'm not fooling anyone! I would seriously love a tour of the archive - I think I'd almost get too excited and want to look at *everything*! They'd never be rid of me!

  15. I am a brand new follower for your blog (as of yesterday or two days ago?), but I am so inspired by all your creations! I now have cadence in my knitting queue and moved up another wiksten tova in my sewing queue!

As for a random fact about me... I'm obsessed with brown butter rice krispie treats!

  16. Happy blogiversary! And congrats on the followers! I'm joining in on the stash-busting challenge, too-- should be really fun! I definitely need to start working through my stash at a faster clip!

Let's see, a fact about me... I grew up in a house without a TV (my parents found it a waste of time), but now I work in television full-time. :)
